What We Do

Inspiration To Succeed

Since the inception, the Ohio State School for the Blind Parent Teacher Staff Foundation has worked closely with the Ohio State School for the Blind to assist in meeting the needs of students that are served by the school and outreach program who are blind or visually impaired, increasing their opportunities for success and independence.

The OSSBPTSF is a hands-on organization. Current projects include…

Summer Programs

During the summer vacation, the Foundation has made it possible for young people to stretch their capabilities at summer music camp and summer school, where blind and visually impaired students experience and learn the latest technology, to enjoy and understand various music experiences. During this time students learn new music and marching techniques that will be put to use in school program at OSSB. Students will also be exposed to programs and music that will enable them to perform outside the school in such events as community parades and band concerts and high school and college musical events.

Helping Students Shine: Music

The Foundation has also helps fund projects in the Music Department, such as purchasing new equipment, band uniforms, renovation of musical instruments and the purchase of technology equipment for upgrading musical selections. December of 2019 will find the OSSB Marching Band in Tampa, Florida performing at the Outback Bowl. In 2009-2010 the OSSB Foundation helped raise funds for the OSSB Marching Band’s 2010 Tournament of Rose Pasadena Parade, Rose Bowl Bandfest, and Disneyland Band Concert performances. You can find the OSSB Marching Band each year at the Millersport SweetCorn Festival, and Circleville Pumpkin Parade.

Other Programs and Student Support

During the school year the foundation supports school activities such as Leo Club, Teacher Grants, Elementary Arts Festival, and the Parent Teacher Staff Organization with fund raising activities and support programs.
